PARENTS DRIVING PUSH FOR SCHOOLS TO FOCUS ON STUDENTS' WELLBEING. Younger parents are spearheading a push for schools to take more responsibility for children's wellbeing by dealing with students' individual social and emotional problems. A national survey of more than 1000 parents found nearly all parents believe schools should play some role in the management of student wellbeing. Almost half believe schools should provide individual support for wellbeing but refer the cases to experts.

THE INTERDEPENDENCE OF WELLBEING & ACADEMIC SUCCESS. It should come as no surprise that students with higher levels of wellbeing are more likely to have higher levels of academic success and go on to complete Year 12. ‘Student wellbeing’ is one of those things – like a proper work/life balance or a healthy diet – that we can all agree is important and needs to be nurtured. If we are serious about it though, we need to know how to identify it, assess it, and if it is low or declining, do something about it.

UNCOVER THE HIDDEN BARRIERS TO LEARNING. PASS, or 'Pupil’s Attitude to Self and School', is the only assessment specifically designed to spot wellbeing issues in children - before they impact school performance. PASS measures nine attitudinal factors that reflect the student’s sense of self, and attitudes to school, helping identify the real reasons behind challenging behaviour, poor attendance and low attainment.

Available throughout the year, PASS online scoring provides instant results, allowing immediate feedback to teachers, principals and parents. Using a simple traffic light system, you can see for each factor, which students may need a high, medium, or low level of support. PASS also provides a comprehensive range of interventions (download a sample) linked to each of the factors, enabling you to respond confidently and sensitively.
